Understanding The ADP Edge User Interface#
First Sign In to ADP Edge#
-
If you open the ADP Edge the first time, sign in with the standard credentials:
-
Under Username enter
admin
and under Password enterBalluff#1
.
⇒ You are asked to change the password. - Change the password.
⇒ You can now sign in to the ADP Edge with the new credentials.
Basic Operation#
Displaying App-Related Information#
You can display application-related information:
- Information about the Balluff Asset Data Provider app.
- Information about open source licenses.
- The Terms & Conditions.
- In the ADP Edge main window, click .
- Click About this app. ⇒ On the right-hand-site of the main window, the About this app pane opens:
Activate Network Interfaces for Discovery#
The ADP Edge can search different network interfaces for supported devices.
When you open ADP Edge for the first time, you will see a dialog listing all available network interfaces. Toggle the switch to enable or disable the selected network interface.
Note
This dialog is shown if there is no selected Network Interface yet.
Press the Save button to save your changes. ADP Edge will then start searching for supported devices on the selected network interfaces. See the next chapter for further information.
Note
The discovery process for supported devices may take some time to complete.
You can adjust the network interfaces by opening the user menu and selecting Settings.
Adding IO-Link Network Modules to the ADP Topology#
You can select the IO-Link Network Modules for installation to the ADP topology using the Master Setup Assistant.
Note
Whenever one or more new IO-Link Network Modules are detected, a dialog opens where you can either directly open the Master Setup Assistant or choose not to.
-
Click Master Setup Assistant.
⇒ The Master Setup Assistant opens: -
Select the IO-Link Network Module(s) for installation and click Next. Depending of the hardware version of the selected IO-Link Network Modules, you may need to authenticate. Enter the credentials for all required IO-Link Network Modules. Press the Login button to login. Repeat this step for all necessary IO-Link Network Modules. Finally, click Next.
-
On the selected IO-Link Network Modules all ports will be set the IO-Link mode. Once finished, the dialog appears as follows:
-
Click Finish Assistant to close the dialog.
⇒ The selected IO-Link Network Modules are now available in the ADP topology.
Working with IO-Link Network Modules Connected to a PLC#
The ADP supports connecting to network modules that are linked to a PLC controller. Modules detected as connected to a PLC are marked with the status "PLC lock active" in the Master Setup assistant, as shown below.
These systems will be used in read-only mode in the ADP. No changes to the configuration are made during the onboarding process, and the ADP also prohibits writing process data or parameter data to devices attached to a locked module.
As shown below writeable IO-Link parameters cannot be changed and sent to the devices when they are attached to a PLC locked network module in order to prevent interfering with the PLC.
Delete IO-Link Network Modules from the ADP Topology#
-
In the ADP Edge main window, click Overview, and click the network-module you want to remove.
⇒ The network-module information overview table is displayed in the lower part of the main window. -
Click the Module row to expand it, and click DELETE.
⇒ The IO-Link Network Modules is deleted from the ADP topology.
Managing Profiles#
