Configure BCM sensors with BCM configuration wizard

Function of the BCM configuration wizard

The BCM configuration wizard enables easy configuration of BCM sensors for vibration monitoring of motors, pumps, fans or compressors. Limits for vibrations are defined based on the power class of the aggregate and established ISO standards.

The BCM Configuration Wizard supports the following BCM sensors:

  • BCM0001 (BCM R15E-001-DI00-01,5-S4)
  • BCM0002 (BCM R15E-002-DI00-01,5-S4)

The following ISO standards are used:

  • Motors: ISO 10816-3
  • Pumps: ISO 10816-7
  • Fan: ISO 14694
  • Compressors: ISO 10816-3 and ISO 20816-3

Note

If the asset to be monitored is not covered by the listed ISO standards, empirical values are recommended as reasonable limit values.

  1. Click in the menu item Sensors and IO-Link Master on the corresponding BCM sensor.
    The BCM configuration wizard appears.

  2. Navigate to the BCM CONFIGURATION ASSISTANT menu item, and click NEW CONFIGURATION to create a new configuration.
.A dialog opens in which you are guided step by step through the configuration:

Motor configuration example (ISO 10816-3)

The configuration is described below using the MOTOR example. For other aggregates, the setup steps may differ or be partially omitted.

Select machine type

  • Select the aggregate to be monitored.

Select monitoring function

  1. Select the monitoring function. Only monitoring according to the listed ISO standards is currently supported.

  2. Click to get more information about the monitoring function.

Enter input data

Select the power class, the shaft height, the speed and the mounting according to your specific case.

Note

If a criteria does not apply to your specific application, your conditions are not covered by the ISO standard.

Axis selection

  • Depending on the orientation of the mounted BCM sensor, select the axes that are oriented perpendicular to the axis of rotation. Blue arrows in the schematic representation give an orientation guide.

Set limit values

For the vibrations, the preselected threshold values are displayed according to the ISO standard.

  • Adjust the threshold values individually to your needs.

Enter name and activate configuration

  1. Enter a name for the configuration and save the configuration.

The configuration is displayed.

  1. Click DEPLOY to activate it.
The BCM sensor is parameterized.!!! note "Note" Only one configuration can be created.
