Detecting rims in reflex-gate mode
Challenge:
An aluminum rim production company faces high pollution from cooling lubricant and aluminum chips dripping onto equipment. This causes sensor malfunctions, leading to increased cleaning and maintenance costs, which reduce OEE.
Solution:
A radar sensor in an M30 housing (IP69K) operating at 122 GHz works reliably in harsh environments, even with cooling lubricant directly on the lens. In reflex-gate mode, a metal backplate from machines or conveyor belts can be used as a reflector.
Advantages:
- Reduced process costs due to less cleaning and maintenance effort.
