Positioning robot head to metal part

Challenge:

Metal parts are shiny, matt or with scratches and hardly to detect accurate with optical solutions.

Solution:

The radar sensor is mounted on the head of the robot and detects the distance to the metal part. If a certain distance is reached the robot handling unit can grip the part.

Advantages:

Robust detection of different materials with high and repeatable accuracy of +/- 1mm.
